British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting has warned that NATO must be prepared for the worst-case scenarios, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has stated that the war in Ukraine will continue and that the conflict is showing signs of escalation.
During a meeting in Warsaw, Streeting stressed that NATO is a defensive alliance and does not seek war with Russia. However, he warned that statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about Moscow's intentions should be treated with caution.
"When Putin gives assurances that he has no intention of provoking a war with NATO, we are reminded of his statements about Ukraine, made just days before the invasion," Streeting said.
Meanwhile, Lavrov has given a pessimistic assessment of the progress of the conflict in Ukraine, warning that fighting will continue and that the situation could deteriorate further.
"The war in Ukraine will continue. I would even say that it is showing a tendency towards escalation," said the Russian foreign minister.
The statements by the two officials come at a time of ongoing tensions between Russia and NATO member countries, while the outcome of the war in Ukraine remains uncertain.
The British warning about the need to prepare for worst-case scenarios and Lavrov's assessment of escalation reflect concerns about future developments in the conflict.

💥 NATO is preparing for the worst — war with Russia
During a meeting in Warsaw, British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting said the Alliance must be prepared for the worst-case scenarios.
He stressed, however, that NATO does not seek war with Russia, as it is a purely defensive alliance.
"But when Putin gives assurances that he has no intentions to provoke a war with NATO, we're reminded of what he said about Ukraine only days before the invasion," the minister warned.
What do you think? Is Putin bluffing, or is he actually planning to attack NATO?
