American security and Balkan affairs expert Ivana Stradner has reacted to an article published by media outlets close to the government in Serbia, accusing Aleksandar Vučić's regime of propaganda, personal attacks and the spread of conspiracy theories on the eve of the elections.
Through a post on the X platform, Stradner stated that she and two American congressmen, Joe Wilson and Keith Self, have become the target of another propaganda campaign, accusing them of damaging the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States of America.
"Vučić is getting nervous! Another regime propaganda article against me, Joe Wilson, and Keith Self, accusing us of destroying the Serbian-American strategic dialogue," Stradner wrote.
She also revealed that Vučić had personally accused her of being paid by the US government to attack him.
"Vučić also accused me of being paid by the US government to attack 'little Vučić,'" she emphasized.
Stradner has described these accusations as part of efforts to discredit him and other critics of the Serbian government.
According to her, the use of personal attacks and conspiracy theories just days before the elections is indicative of the way Serbian authorities are reacting to criticism.
"When a regime resorts to personal attacks and conspiracy theories just days before an election, it says a lot," Stradner wrote.
Her reaction comes on the eve of the October 25 parliamentary elections in Serbia, while political developments in the country and Belgrade's relations with Washington continue to be the subject of debate.
Congressmen Joe Wilson and Keith Self were mentioned in Stradner's response as people who, along with him, have been accused by Serbian pro-government media of damaging the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
Stradner, known for her commentary on regional security, Russian influence, and political developments in the Western Balkans, has interpreted this media campaign as a reaction to criticism directed at the government in Belgrade.
The GeoPost
Vučić is getting nervous!
Another regime propaganda hit piece about me, @RepJoeWilson and @RepKeithSelf accusing us of ruining Serbian-American strategic dialogue.
Vucic also accused me of being paid by the US government to attack "little Vučić."
When a regime resorts to personal attacks and conspiracy theories just days before an election, it tells you plenty. 🙂
