Croatian MEP: No policy changes the historical fact that Kosovo, Croatia and Bosnia were victims of Serbian aggression

Croatian MEP Davor Ivo Stier has stated that the trial of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in The Hague does not change the historical fact that Kosovo, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were victims of aggression by the regime of former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic.

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Stier was asked about the judicial process in The Hague, while emphasizing that the historical facts about the wars in the former Yugoslavia should not be overlooked or relativized by political developments.

"This is a historical fact that should not be weakened by any politics. Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and perhaps even Slovenia, were victims of an aggression launched by Serbia and its president. This is a fact that should not be overlooked," declared the Croatian MEP.

Stier also criticized the way in which, according to him, Serbian authorities present the NATO intervention in 1999, focusing on the bombings, without addressing the events that preceded that intervention.

"When you hear the Serbian authorities talking, they seem to only remember the NATO intervention and the bombings, but they act as if nothing happened before the bombings," he said.

The MEP emphasized that NATO's intervention had a certain historical context and that one of the main reasons was to stop ethnic cleansing in Kosovo.

"There was a reason why NATO intervened and why these bombings were carried out: to stop the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, which was also the last war started by Milosevic. These are historical facts that should not be neglected," said Stier.
