The Ministry of Defense has completed the procedures for the purchase of anti-tank equipment from Germany for the Kosovo Security Force (KSF).
The news was confirmed to The GeoPost by the Kosovo Ministry of Defense.
PANZERFAUST 3 weapons are expected to be delivered to the KSF soon, significantly increasing its defensive capabilities against armored vehicles.
In parallel, Kosovo has also signed an agreement with the American military industry manufacturer AM General for the purchase of modern HUMVEE Hawkeye 105 mm mobile artillery systems.
In addition to the Hawkeye artillery systems, the three-year contract also provides for the supply of the KSF with ambulances, command and control trucks, as well as other support vehicles, necessary for the operation of a full artillery battery and the development of indirect fire capabilities.
From AM General, Executive Vice President for Business Development, John Chadbourne, stated that the sale of the HUMVEE Hawkeye system to Kosovo is evidence of the company's commitment to providing advanced solutions for modern military needs.

The HUMVEE Hawkeye system is equipped with Soft Recoil technology, which allows the integration of the 105 mm cannon onto the HUMVEE platform, enabling rapid deployment, firing, and relocation of the system in less than 90 seconds, which significantly increases survivability against counter-battery fire.
In recent years, Kosovo has accelerated the armament process, mainly through purchases from the United States and Turkey, including missiles and drones.
It is not the first time that Kosovo has collaborated with AM General, as in 2018 the country received 51 American Humvee military vehicles.
Kosovo is in the ten-year process of transforming the KSF into an army, which began in 2018. This process has been supported by the United States, while NATO continues to insist that the KSF focus on its original mandate, such as crisis response and civil protection.
Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo has continuously increased the defense budget.
For the current year, the budget for this sector amounts to 207.8 million euros, reflecting the strategic priority given to national security and defense./TheGeoPost.
