Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he would travel to Miami if his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, attended the Group of 20 (G20) leaders summit scheduled for December.

According to DW, Zelensky responded enthusiastically when the journalist asked him this question on Friday.

"Yes, of course. We have to go. We have to meet, talk and make decisions," he is quoted as saying.

Zelensky added that what he would say to Putin mattered less than the results.

"It's not word for word. What I'm going to say to him or what he wants to say to me, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. […] The results matter. That's it."

Zelensky and Putin have not met in person since Russia launched a large-scale invasion of its smaller neighbor in February 2022.

On the other hand, so far, the Kremlin has refused to confirm whether Putin will go to Miami for the meeting.

The Russian leader has not personally attended a G20 summit since 2019.

First, however, Zelensky spoke about the agreements he signed on Thursday with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, including a 100-year partnership declaration.

Zelensky stressed the importance of the agreement, which, according to him, covered multiple sectors: "from security, financing, energy - energy is very important - policy for veterans, culture, relations and humanitarian issues."

"So it's a comprehensive decision, a truly historic decision, and I'm happy that we've achieved it," he said.

Zelensky also said he had signed a cooperation agreement with the Canadian leader on drone production, which involves a number of Ukrainian companies.
