A new round of peace talks could take place in early October – says Ukraine's Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Presidential Office, stated that peace talks in a trilateral format could take place in early October this year.

He made these comments on the sidelines of the annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting in Kiev, according to the Ukrinform agency, which referred to the Office of the President.

As it became known, on the sidelines of YES, Kyrylo Budanov held meetings with national security advisers: Günter Sautter (Germany), Emmanuel Bonn (France), Fabrizio Saggio (Italy) and Jonathan Powell (United Kingdom), as well as a separate meeting with the British side to coordinate a common position and discuss important decisions.

The head of the President's Office expressed confidence that the next round of peace talks on Ukraine could take place in early October and will focus on a gradual reduction in airstrikes.

"It is important that the US and Europe participate in the negotiations," he stressed.

"The main issues will be maritime transport in the Black Sea and reducing the number of attacks on civilian targets, critical infrastructure and the like. Everyone exchanged views on this issue. The Russians are fully aware of this and also have their own ideas on how to deal with it. We are waiting," Budanov said.

According to the head of the President's Office, it is important not to waste time and work on creating a new security architecture in Europe, an integral part of which should be Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine - a point that Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly emphasized while calling for cooperation.

As Ukrinform reported, Zelensky stated that he plans to meet with Trump in September and will then work on organizing a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the US, and Russia.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi confirmed the existence of a preliminary agreement for a face-to-face meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the US in September.
