Dodik spreads disinformation about Russia’s role in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Politika portal and other Serbian media report on statements made by Milorad Dodik after his meeting with Vladimir Putin, in which he spreads a series of disinformation about Russia’s role in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

What Dodik said:

‘Russia is the guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement and Putin said this at the meeting. He added that within this framework Russia will work for the end and the cessation of the international institutions, especially the fake High Representative or, as he says, the illegitimate representative”, Dodik said after his meeting with Putin.

Analysis:

Dodik disinforms that Russia has always been objective in the UNSC. Russia has repeatedly used its veto power in the UN Security Council to block resolutions on Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the 2015 one that officially declared Srebrenica a genocide.

Russia is not a guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement – Although Russia is one of the signatories to the agreement, the key guarantors are the US, the European Union and NATO. Moscow is not responsible for the implementation of Dayton, nor can it independently decide on the work of international institutions in BiH.
