The Politika portal continues to spread disinformation against the authorities in Kosovo, the latest example of which is an article entitled “Controlled war against Serbia in the north of Kosovo”. The text, signed by Dejan Spalović, contains false claims in order to present the Kosovo Prime Minister as a threat to stability in the region, while ignoring the real security threats coming from Serbia.
What Politika says:
“The European Union’s financial taps for Kosovo are increasingly precarious, America is turning its back on Albin Kurti, and it is often rumoured that this most powerful NATO country is considering withdrawing from the region. With very poor economic indicators and the fact that Self-Determination did not win enough votes in the February elections to be able to independently manage Kosovo’s institutions – all these are reasons why Kurti and his associates are still considering artificially provoking armed incidents in the north of the province, which could escalate into a war in the north of Kosovo, for which they will blame Serbia,” Spalovic said in an op-ed published by Politika.
Analysis:
One of the key disinformation in this article is the claim that Albin Kurti “artificially provokes armed incidents in the north of Kosovo” in order to blame Serbia. This kind of disinformation is constantly circulated in the Serbian media, without any evidence, ignoring the fact that it is Serbia’s illegal security structures and paramilitary formations that are responsible for destabilising the region.
The author of the text also disinforms about the withdrawal of KFOR from Kosovo. At the beginning of March, however, the US Department of Defence announced that there had been no change in the position of US forces in Kosovo.
The article also disinforms that Western intelligence services are behind the alleged planning of a conflict in north Kosovo, although official statements from Washington and Brussels reject any suggestion of conflict instigation./The Geopost/
