Ukraine has been using British-made drones to carry out long-range attacks deep inside Russian territory over the past six months, the British newspaper The Times reported.

According to the report, it concerns the Nyan jet-powered drone, manufactured by the British company BAE Systems, as well as another type of drone, the identity of which has not been made public.

Ukraine's use of British technology for long-range strikes is not new. Ukrainian forces have previously used British-French Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets inside Russian territory.

However, the use of British drones for attacks deep inside Russian territory constitutes a significant development in expanding Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities.

According to The Times, among the targets hit by British-made drones were oil refineries near Moscow, as well as in the Yaroslavl and Volgograd regions.

Most long-range strike operations are carried out with Ukrainian-made drones, but the Ukrainian armed forces have stated that they have also achieved significant results with British systems.

One of them is the Nyan drone, which has a wingspan of about 2.9 meters and can be launched from a portable platform. This allows it to be used from the ground, but also from ships.

The drone is equipped with a jet engine and, according to data published by BAE Systems, is designed to operate even in environments where GPS signals are interrupted or denied through electronic warfare.

BAE Systems describes Nyan as a system capable of operations deep inside enemy territory.

According to the company, the drone can be equipped with various payloads for specific missions, while it can also be used as a disposable decoy to help identify enemy air defense positions.

This gives the system a role beyond direct attacks, as it can also be used to detect Russian air defense capabilities and positions.

The use of these assets indicates the expansion of military cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, as Kiev seeks to increase its capabilities to strike strategic targets at long distances inside Russian territory.
