The director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has continued his verbal attacks on Kosovo institutions, raising accusations against the Kosovo Police regarding security measures during the commemoration of the feast of the Monastery of the Holy Archangels in Prizren.
Through a reaction on the social network "X", Petkovic claimed that members of the Kosovo Police had carried out "unnecessary and tendentious" checks on Serbian believers who participated in the religious ceremony.
According to him, these security measures constituted an "act of repression", while he accused Kosovo institutions of allegedly obstructing the work of some Serbian-language media.
“The goal was to create a new Gazimestan,” Petkovic claimed, using a familiar Belgrade political narrative that aims to portray Kosovo institutions as a threat to the Serbian community.
However, the measures taken by the Kosovo Police during public activities, including religious ones, are part of the usual security procedures implemented to guarantee public order and protect all participants.
Police checks at gatherings with large numbers of participants are carried out to prevent potential incidents and are not related to the ethnic or religious affiliation of citizens.
Security institutions in Kosovo have consistently emphasized that their duty is to guarantee security for all citizens and communities, while respecting fundamental rights and freedoms.
Petkovic's statements come at a time when Belgrade officials have intensified political rhetoric against Kosovo institutions, often using accusations of "discrimination" and "pressure" against Serbs, while authorities in Pristina have described these claims as part of a propaganda and disinformation campaign.
The Serbian government and its officials continue to use the Kosovo issue as one of the main political topics, while through public statements they often accuse Pristina of actions against the Serbian community, without providing concrete evidence for the claims made.
On the other hand, Kosovo institutions have reiterated that every action by security authorities is based on the laws in force and that the implementation of law and order cannot be interpreted as an action against a specific community./TheGeoPost.
