Kosovo Police announced that leaflets have been found in the north of Kosovo instructing Serbs in the northern municipalities to resist and attack Kosovo Police. The leaflets were distributed on Monday by a group called “People’s Defense”, whose content is inflammatory and encourages Serbian citizens to disobey the Kosovo Police.

The regular 24-hour police report said that leaflets were distributed at the entrances of buildings and on various streets.

“It is reported that unknown persons have distributed leaflets at the entrances of buildings and various streets referring to incitement to hatred, division or national, religious, racial or ethnic intolerance.” The case is under investigation,” the police report states.

Kosovo Police noticed these leaflets after the end of a protest rally by Kosovo Serbs who took to the streets to protest against the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo.

“We suspect that these leaflets were distributed yesterday (Monday, 12.02.2024) during and after the protest and we came across them later.” “After consultation with the prosecutor of the Basic and Special Prosecutor’s Office, the case of ‘calling for resistance and incitement to hatred’ was opened,” Deputy Police Director in the North, Veton Elshani, told the media in Kosovo.

The leaflets signed by “People’s Defense”, which were distributed on various Telegram channels, contain alleged instructions for resistance to the Kosovo police. These leaflets state, among other things, that the Kosovo police should be take aim at with any means, that police officers should be spat at and insulted. Then destroy the police cars by any means and instructions on how to prepare Molotov cocktails and the like.

Regarding the Serbian dinar, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the decision of the CBK does not mean the ban of the dinar, nor the support that Serbia gives to the Serbs in Kosovo through the dinar.
