Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić praised Tucker Carlson for his recent controversial interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying the right-wing American journalist had managed to overcome “censorship”.
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić spoke to Tucker Carlson in Dubai on Monday and praised the right-wing talk show host for his interview with Vladimir Putin last week, which critics say gave the Russian president a platform to spread lies and propaganda.
During her and Vučić’s rule, the media in Serbia were the most heavily scrutinized in the region and served as a space for the dissemination of Russian-Serbian propaganda. But Brnabić propagandized again this time, saying that there was censorship in the US, writes The Geopost.
Brnabiq had a conversation with Carlson during the World Government Summit in Dubai. She then announced that the American conservative would visit Serbia this year.
“He knows a lot about Serbia and said that he plans to come to Serbia in mid-2024 and that he has great respect for President Aleksandar Vučić, and I told him that I can’t wait to see him,” Brnabić said.
Former Fox News host Carlson’s two-hour interview, which was published online, focused mainly on the war in Ukraine and allowed Putin to justify his invasion of Russia’s neighboring country.
Carlson, who was fired from Fox News last year, said at the beginning of the interview that Putin believes “Russia has historic claims” to parts of Ukraine.
He also repeated Putin’s claim that there is a “NATO-led war against Russia”.
In the interview with Carlson, Putin reached the height of disinformation when he said that Ukraine was the one who started the war.
Carlson met with Serbian President Vucic at the Serbian embassy in Budapest in August 2023. He published a video of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), in which he said Vucic was “a smart guy”.
Also at the embassy with Vucic was Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, who said his eldest son was Carlson’s biggest fan.
