Kancelar Olaf Šolc najavio je da će Nemačka obustaviti rad gasovoda Severni tok II, zbog nedavnih aktivnosti Rusije na istoku Ukrajine. Šolc je kazao da će zbog ruskog priznanja oblasti Donjecka i Luganska, odluka o sertifikaciji gasovoda ostati na čekanju.
„Kao odgovor na ruske aktivnosti u Ukrajini, savezna vlada suspendovaće projekat gasovoda Severni tok II. Ova odluka zvuči tehnički, ali je neophodna administrativna radnja, kako do sertifikacije gasovoda ne bi došlo. Bez ove sertifikacije ‘Severni tok II’ neće moći da funkcioniše“, rekao je Šolc novinarima u Berlinu.
Gasovod između Rusije i Nemačke završen je prošlog septembra, ali još nije u funkciji. „Severni tok II” je projekat završen u partnerstvu ruske kompanije Gasprom, koja poseduje 51 odsto akcija, i nekoliko nemačkih, holandskih i francuskih kompanija.
Od početka projekat nije naišao na odobravanje zapadnih saveznika, koji su ga videli kao projekat kojim Rusija nastoji da proširi svoj ekonomski i politički uticaj u Evropi.
Poslednjih meseci, kako je sukob u istočnoj Ukrajini eskalirao, mnogi zapadni zvaničnici su naglasili da bi blokada Severnog toka II trebalo da bude deo sankcija koje bi Zapad mogao da upotrebi protiv Rusije.
Iako je nova nemačka vlada bila oprezna u vezi sa suspendovanjem projekta, nedavne ruske aktivnosti i priznavanje oblasti Donjecka i Luganska kao rusku teritoriju, primorali su Nemačku da ubrza proces sankcija, koji će uključiti i ovaj kontroverzni projekat. /The Geopost/
