Poland's attorney general's office said it has arrested a Russian national on suspicion of being involved in gathering information on Polish military units, their supplies and military personnel, based on a request from Russian intelligence.
The prosecutor's office in the northern Polish city of Gdansk said on April 12 that the suspect, whose identity has not been made public, had been sentenced to three months in custody, without giving further details.
Stanislaw Zarin, spokesman for the intelligence services, said the suspect was arrested on April 6 and faces ten years in prison if convicted of espionage.
According to the Portal Samorzadowy website, the suspect has lived in Poland for 18 years and owns a business.
