Ukraine is increasingly using AI-equipped drones to strike Russian military targets far from the front lines, in a development that experts consider a significant step in the evolution of modern warfare.
According to the BBC, the latest attacks have focused on supply vehicles and logistical routes connecting Russia to occupied territories in southern Ukraine, including Crimea.
Ukrainian Hornet-type drones are capable of identifying and tracking targets autonomously once they have headed towards a designated area.
Weapons expert Nick Brown explained that Al's system has been trained with thousands of hours of footage of Russian military equipment collected during the war.
This enables Ukrainian forces to launch hundreds of drones over great distances and automatically guide them towards targets once they are identified.
According to experts, the new technology is significantly increasing the accuracy and range of Ukrainian strikes, while making the drones more difficult to neutralize by Russian electronic warfare systems.
They estimate that these capabilities are forcing Russia to move its logistical and support infrastructure further away from the front.
