Serbia repeats propaganda at the UN, Kosovo denies it: Serbian rhetoric recalls the Milosevic era

At the latest meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, Serbia continued its narrative against Kosovo. Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric complained about the closure of parallel Serbian structures and claimed that Serbs in Kosovo are facing a “fight for survival.”

However, Kosovo’s acting Foreign Minister Donika Gervalla responded to these statements by calling the Serbian claims propaganda and criticizing the use of the term “Kosovo and Metohija.” She linked this to Serbia’s hegemonic ambitions and the rhetoric of the Milosevic regime.

Djuric, who complained about the closure of parallel Serbian structures in Kosovo, was victimized by the alleged “oppression” of Serbs by the incumbent Kosovo government.

“The fundamental rights of Serbs are not only being ignored, but systematically undermined. What we are witnessing today is a war, a struggle for security and survival,” he claimed.

In addition, he repeated the request for the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo, while addressing Kosovo with the term “Kosovo and Metohija” – a discourse that was denied by the acting Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Donika Gervalla.

She emphasized that “the use of the term ‘Kosovo and Metohija’ reflects Serbia’s hegemonic ambitions and is linked to the rhetoric of the Slobodan Milošević era.”/The Geopost/
