Europe is closely monitoring the attitude toward the media in Serbia, and Aleksandar Vučić should be aware of this, said MEP Helmut Brandstetter.
The MEP also stated in an article in “X” that the rule of law and free media are prerequisites for further talks with the Serbian government.
“Igor Božić (program director of N1) and other Serbian journalists have reported that the pressure exerted by Aleksandar Vučić’s regime on the media is becoming increasingly brutal,” he wrote.
The protests in Serbia began after a canopy collapsed at a train station in Novi Sad, killing 16 people.
While the local authorities are suppressing the protests, Brandstetter said Europe is watching Vučić.
“Vučić should know that Europe is watching him closely,” the MEP added. /The Geopost/
