Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador to the United Nations, Zlatko Lagumdzija, has harshly criticized Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, commenting on his appearance at the UN General Assembly and his stance on the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica.
In an interview with the Federal Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lagumdzija said that Vučić has changed his approach compared to previous years.
"I think Vučić has learned something from this embarrassment of his, when he appeared completely stupid at the UN General Assembly, when the Resolution on Srebrenica was adopted," Lagumdzija declared.
He said that the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica has been one of the bases of Bosnia and Herzegovina's diplomatic action in recent years.
Lagumdzija also spoke about the honor given in Serbia to former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, Ratko Mladić, convicted of war crimes and genocide. He said that the Bosnia and Herzegovina delegation to the UN has paid special attention to this issue.
Speaking about the appearance of the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Becirović, at the UN General Assembly, Lagumdžija said that key issues of current world developments were raised, including the war in Gaza, the suffering of the Palestinians and the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
"We, as Bosnia and Herzegovina, are sensitive to such aggressions that are happening before our eyes," he said.
He stressed the importance of international law and warned against, as he put it, efforts to weaken the Dayton Agreement and create conditions for the secession of Republika Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The ideologies that led to genocide, unfortunately, still threaten the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Lagumdžija declared.
He also highlighted the diplomatic activities of the Bosnian delegation in New York. Bećirović held meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as with representatives of several states, including US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister, Elmedin Konaković, held meetings with his counterparts, including Turkey's Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan.
"Guterres is still a great friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Lagumdžija, adding that Bećirović's meeting with Trump took place in a good atmosphere.
"I think this is such a concentrated attack, I can say freely, of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the United Nations as what the attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina are," he concluded.
