Germany will intensify efforts to strengthen its military capabilities and accelerate defense investment, amid continued concerns about the threat that, according to Berlin, Russia poses.
This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during German Armed Forces Day activities in Neubiberg.
Pistorius stressed that the current security situation forces Germany to increase military spending and accelerate the procurement processes of protective equipment.
According to him, German soldiers deserve the best technology and training to guarantee the Bundeswehr's preventive capability and to defend the country if necessary.
The German minister also underlined that Berlin aims to play a key role in strengthening NATO's capabilities in Europe.
He said that the government is working to ensure that defense funds are used as efficiently and quickly as possible, with the aim of Germany, as the alliance's largest European partner, contributing decisively to NATO's defense capabilities.
