Escobar: It is important for the Western Balkans to distance itself from Russian energy as Russia uses it as a weapon

The American special envoy for the Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, told the Voice of America after the signing of the energy agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation and Kosovo that the agreement is a sign of deepening cooperation between Kosovo and the United States.

“Kosovo is an extremely good partner in the region, it is a competent country in our relationship in the region. Everything we can do to deepen the cooperation, we are happy to do it”. it is.

In response to a question from the Voice of America, regarding the risk of the impact of the situation created in Ukraine and Moscow’s goals in the Western Balkans, Mr. Escobar expressed optimism about the repulsion of these goals in the region.

“We have never seen the unity that we have now within NATO and the unity that we have with our European partners to make sure that European security is our highest priority. In this context, we also consider the Western Balkans, and I believe that the Western Balkans will be in order”, it is.

He added that despite the various challenges, all countries in the region have the support and attention of the United States.
