25 years after September 11, Kosovo in solidarity with the American people

An American flag, candles and a plaque with the names of the 2,977 victims bring back memories of one of the most painful days of the 21st century. 25 years have passed, but the images of the Twin Towers, the smoke over New York and the pain of thousands of families remain part of the collective memory.

For Kosovo, September 11th also has a special dimension. A people that only two years ago had emerged from a war, with great human losses and extensive destruction, the "Friends of America" ​​association in Kosovo sees this anniversary as a moment to express solidarity with the American people, but also an expression of gratitude.

"Our action is an action that should have been taken. I think and hope that the country's institutions and civil society and all those who have a respect for the US will act today. With an action with a flag with a post on social networks with a kind word with a desire to overcome this crisis caused by the terrorist attack," said Agim Rexhepi, from the "Friends of America" ​​association in Kosovo.

The "Çamëria" association in Kosovo also joined the activity, expressing support for the American people and gratitude for the role of the United States in the history of Kosovo.

"We are in support of the American people to remember the victims that occurred in 2001. We completely stand in solidarity with the people. Thanks to the American state, we are where we are today because we always had them by our side, from the liberation, the formation of the state. We are always with the American people, we will be and we have been", said Besim Dinolli, president of the "Çamëria" Association in Kosovo.

The message of solidarity was also conveyed by Ilir Mezelxhiu, one of the supporters of this activity.

"Today we stand together with the American people to remember one of the darkest days in history, September 11, 2001. 25 years have passed, but we will never forget the 2977 innocent people who lost their lives that day," said Ilir Mezelxhiu, a supporter of the activity.

Among the victims were three Albanian-Americans: Mon Gjonbalaj, Simon Dedvukaj, and Rrok Camaj. In honor of them and all the victims, schoolchildren and citizens of Pristina also paid homage.

The Embassy of Kosovo in the United States has also expressed solidarity with the American people on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

"25 years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, Kosovo stands in solidarity with the American people, honoring the lives lost and the courage of the first responders," reads a post from the Kosovo Embassy in the US on X.

The Embassy emphasized that Kosovo and the United States reaffirm their enduring friendship and shared values ​​of freedom, democracy, and peace.

Peja also marked the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States of America, through the Summer Commemoration Meeting "Remember - Never Forget".

The event was organized by the Peja Peace Forum, with the support of the "Haxhi Zeka" University, the Municipality of Peja and the Rotary Club Peja, as part of the commemorative activities dedicated to the 25th anniversary of September 11.

The activity brought together institutional representatives, academics, representatives of organizations and citizens, creating a space for remembrance, reflection and discussion on peace, security and the challenges of contemporary society.

As part of the program, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic "The Way Forward: Does Artificial Intelligence Make Us More Productive Today - but Less Capable Tomorrow?".

The discussion was attended by Dr. Neshad R. Albani, founder of Peja Peace Forum, the mayor of Peja Gazmend Muhaxheri, the rector of “Haxhi Zeka” University, Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, Tina Ramirez from Hardwired Global, the president of the Rotary Club Peja, Ilir N. Albani, representatives of the United States Embassy in Kosovo, as well as other institutional, academic and invited representatives.
