The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Serbia have announced a competition for applicants for voluntary military service with weapons for 2024.
"We invite all interested young men and women aged 19 to 30 in 2024 and who have not previously performed military service with weapons to apply for voluntary military service, as well as for military training for reserve officers. We also remind you that there is still some time left for all interested parties to apply for the December referral deadline. Candidates will have the opportunity to undergo dynamic military training, show patriotism towards their country, and voluntary military service is also the shortest path to becoming a professional member of the Serbian Armed Forces," the Serbian Ministry wrote.
The Ministry of Defense has also indicated the amount of salary that soldiers will receive.
"Future soldiers also expect a monthly salary of around 46,000 dinars. All those who decide to apply for professional military status during their voluntary service expect shortened and simplified selection and admission procedures."
In order not to reveal more information regarding the application for voluntary military service, the Ministry has written that interested candidates can apply at the centers of the Ministry of Defense.
The announcement comes after Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's warning that in Raška, Serbia, the paramilitary and terrorist reorganization of Milan Radoićić and his group is taking place, with instructions and support from the Serbian state.
"On Friday, November 10, he led a meeting with about 40 Serbian politicians and officials of illegal municipalities from Kosovo. At the meeting held at the cultural house in Raska, he was accompanied by Svetlana Miladinov, the deputy of Petar Petkovic, the coordinator of the so-called Serbian office for Kosovo. During this meeting, in addition to the deputies of the Serbian List, its new chairman Zlatan Elek and vice-chairmen Dragisa Milovic and Dalibor Jevtic also participated. There, mobilization was requested for voting for the state party in Serbia, SNS, in the elections on December 17. Those who are on the payroll have been conditioned with them, while others have been offered jobs for a period of 3 and 6 months."
Kurti said that Milan Radoićić, after the terrorist attack carried out in the north, was released within a day to continue his paramilitary and terrorist activities in service of Serbia's state policy against Kosovo.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo said that it continues to threaten the security of the Republic of Kosovo with the forward operating bases of the Serbian Armed Forces along the border with our country.
"Furthermore, Serbia has deployed anti-aircraft systems near the border with Kosovo. The threat from Russia and Serbia to regional stability, peace and security is becoming increasingly noticeable. Russia aims to ignite a crisis in the EU's courtyard, to defocus NATO, while Serbia aims to fulfill its territorial ambitions towards its neighbors according to the "Serbian World" project of Vulin and Vučić. The lack of sanctions against Serbia increases the level of threat in the Western Balkans. The leaders of the terrorist group, instead of facing justice in Kosovo, continue preparations for other attacks on Kosovo and gathering votes by blackmailing Kosovo Serbs," Kurti said.
During his visit to Skopje, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that there is room for concern in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina due to Serbia's aggressive policies towards the two states.
"This region is very important for NATO, and there is reason for concern. We see threats of secession in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a fragile security situation in Kosovo, and stalled talks between Belgrade and Pristina. Authoritarian states like Russia are endangering democratic integrity with cyber threats," Stoltenberg said in Skopje. /The Geopost/
