Konakovic and Helez deny Dodik: There was no request for the Serbian government plane to fly

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, and the Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, have stated to Radio Free Europe (REL) that no request has been made to BiH institutions for the flight of the Serbian Government aircraft over the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Their statements followed the claim by the leader of the League of Independent Social Democrats, Milorad Dodik, on the social network X, that a decision had been made to "unilaterally ban the flight of Serbian Prime Minister Gjuro Macuti."

Konakovic told REL that no such decision has been made.

"We neither allowed it nor forbade it. No one approached us with a request, we only received notification that Ana Brnabić had canceled the flight to Banja Luka," Konaković said.

Even the Minister of Defense of BiH, Zukan Helez, confirmed that he had not received a request for approval of the flight.

"I have not received a request for the flight of the Prime Minister of Serbia," Helez told REL.

Serbian Prime Minister Gjuro Macut was scheduled to attend a ceremony in Banja Luka on the evening of September 14th to mark the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, which is celebrated on September 15th.

This holiday was established in 2020 by the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska, while the date was chosen to commemorate the breaking of the Thessaloniki Front in 1918. /The Geopost/
