Polish Minister: NATO would defeat Russia quickly, Europe has great military superiority

The Polish Foreign Minister says NATO has about 2,500 more aircraft than Russia and that Europe could halve Russia's oil refining capacity within six weeks.

Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has stated that NATO would defeat Russia "quickly" in the event of a direct conflict, highlighting the Alliance's vast superiority in air power and military capabilities.

Sikorski made the statements during the "Yalta European Strategy" conference in Kiev, at a time when European countries are facing growing concerns about Russia's military and hybrid activities towards NATO countries.

"If Russia attacked us and we took off the gloves, I think we would defeat Russia pretty quickly," Sikorski said.

According to him, NATO has about 2,500 more aircraft than Russia, creating a significant advantage in terms of air power.

Sikorski emphasized that this superiority would exist even if the United States were not involved in a conflict.

"Even without the US, the advantage is still very large," he declared, citing F-35 aircraft, JASSM missiles and other long-range strike capabilities.

The Polish minister also claimed that Europe would be able to knock out half of Russia's oil refining capacity in just six weeks.

"The Ukrainians have been knocking out half of Russia's refining capacity for six months. We can do that for six weeks and knock out the other half," he said.

The statements come at a time when Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, particularly refineries and facilities related to the oil industry.

Sikorski's statements have sparked a backlash in Moscow. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the Polish minister's comments as "brain Russophobia."

Meanwhile, concerns in Europe about a possible Russian escalation towards NATO have increased. European countries have raised the alarm over a wide range of activities attributed to Moscow, from sabotage and cyberattacks, to the use of drones and the possibility of limited military action.

Poland and the Baltic states are considered among the countries most exposed to these threats due to their proximity to Russia and Belarus./TheGeopost
