The Assistant to the President of Russia and President of the Naval Academy of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Petrushev, accused the West of false information that foreign secret services are organizing terrorist attacks on Russian territory.
Patrushev said:
“The United States of America and its allies are trying to prevent our country’s access to the resources of the world’s oceans in order to deprive or restrict our use of important sea routes,” Patrushev said at the first meeting of the Naval College, according to RIA Novosti.
According to him, the naval presence of Western countries in important areas of the world’s oceans has increased in the waters immediately adjacent to Russian territory.
“Foreign intelligence services are organizing terrorist attacks on the territory of our country, targeting strategically important maritime infrastructure. They stop Russian ships, impose secondary sanctions against companies that carry out transportation in the interests of our country, stop supplying military equipment to ships and so on.” The construction of Russian ships on foreign lines – all this poses significant threats to Russia’s security.”

Analysis:
There is no public information or official reports confirming the existence of such attacks on Russian naval infrastructure. The accusations made by Patrusev are based on political propaganda rhetoric and there is no solid evidence to support the claims made by Russian officials.
The presence of Western countries in international waters, including waters close to Russian territory, is not illegal and is often enforced in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). These military activities are part of regular patrols and military exercises and do not constitute an illegal blockade or an attempt to deny Russia access to the World Ocean.
Patrushev also declared that Western countries are using economic measures and sanctions to threaten Russia’s maritime economic activity. However, these sanctions are not related to terrorist attacks, but are part of geopolitical pressure from Western countries in response to Russian foreign policy moves, such as the annexation of Crimea and military activities in Ukraine. These measures are economic and political in nature and are not aimed at the physical destruction of Russian infrastructure./G. Venhari – The Geopost/
