NATO plans $60 billion in aid for Ukraine

NATO allies are planning to provide Ukraine with around $60 billion in military and security assistance through 2026, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced.

Speaking at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Berlin, Rutte stressed that support will focus on key defense priorities.

"We need to focus funding on air defense, drones and long-range munitions. These are the big priorities," he said, according to reports by European Pravda.

The announced aid is expected to come in addition to the 90 billion euro loan package agreed by the European Union, aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities in the face of Russian aggression.

Rutte also acknowledged that the burden of support has not been distributed evenly among allies. "Very few countries are carrying a large share of the burden and this needs to be addressed. Support for Ukraine remains as important as ever," he said.

The meetings known as "Ramstein" have become the main platform for coordinating military aid to Ukraine, involving more than 50 countries cooperating on arms deliveries, training and logistical support.

Before this meeting, Germany announced a new defense package of 4 billion euros, which includes hundreds of missiles for the Patriot system, while the United Kingdom presented its largest drone package, with over 120 thousand units.

According to Rutte, allies are determined to provide stable and predictable support to Ukraine in the coming year so that it can face ongoing security challenges.
