The Russian state agency "Rossotrudnichestvo", which deals with promoting Russia's interests abroad, has announced the launch of a new training program for media professionals from countries of the so-called "Global South", presenting the initiative as a cultural exchange.

According to the announcement, the courses will be held in Moscow and will include journalists, editors and bloggers from Brazil, India, South Africa, Egypt and Tunisia.

Organizers say participants will attend workshops led by specialists from the Russian state propaganda outlet Sputnik, while a central part of the program will be the use of artificial intelligence tools in the media.

The initiative is seen as part of Moscow's "soft power" strategy, with which Russia aims to expand its influence in Asia, Africa and Latin America through projects called "educational" and "cultural".

In this way, the Kremlin aims to build a stable network of media contacts outside Russia, cultivating cooperation and proximity with local voices, which can serve as channels for spreading Russian narratives to regional audiences, where the credibility of "local sources" is often higher than that of foreign media.
