Hashim Thaçi's lawyer: The three Special Judges smeared the KLA and NATO

Hashim Thaçi's lawyer, Pierre-Richard Prosper, has stated that the Specialized Chambers' verdict did not only hit the accused, but tarnished the entire liberation war and the alliance with the West.

According to Prosperi, the trial panel's decision to characterize the KLA as a "Joint Criminal Enterprise" implies the absurdity that NATO has also entered into a partnership with a criminal organization.

"When you listen to what they said, they said it was a Joint Criminal Enterprise and they said Hashim Thaçi and others were in charge of the entire KLA and all the abuses that the KLA committed. They didn't say there were some individuals in the KLA who didn't do this, it was ordered that way or a faction that was responsible.

They have tarnished the entire Kosovo Liberation Army and, in essence, they have tarnished the entire legacy of Kosovo's liberation and independence. They have tarnished NATO and, in essence, they have said that NATO has entered into a partnership with the Criminal Enterprise. Prosper also criticized the unfounded mention of other KLA commanders who were not part of the trial, as well as the profound lack of transparency, with the more than 2,000-page verdict being kept secret.

He confirmed that he will stand by Thaçi until his name is fully cleared during the appeal, a process that is expected to last about a year, describing the current decision as unjust and morally corrupt.
