U.S. troops from the Regional Eastern Command of the KFOR mission have recently conducted advanced training to enhance their capabilities in detecting, tracking, and neutralizing drones, a skill increasingly critical in today’s security environment.
According to KFOR, the systems used during the exercises can disrupt drone control frequencies, forcing the devices to return to their operators. They can also interfere with GPS/GNSS signals, causing drones to hover, land, or crash.
“These exercises strengthen technical capabilities while emphasizing coordination, teamwork, and adaptability in responding to evolving aerial threats,” the mission’s statement said.
KFOR has already employed these capabilities in operational scenarios, improving the mission’s effectiveness in addressing emerging security challenges.
“Our mission continues to implement its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244—to provide a safe environment for all people living in Kosovo and to ensure freedom of movement at all times, impartially,” KFOR stated.
The mission works closely with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) to fulfill their respective security roles./TheGeopost.
