“Chinese arms companies are part of the network that is helping Russia to continue its war against Ukraine,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a NATO summit on Tuesday.
Zelensky explained that Russia not only poses a long-term threat to Europe, but that the continent also faces a “network of actors supporting aggression”.
“This network includes Russia, North Korea, the current regime in Iran, Chinese companies and many organizations worldwide that help produce weapons and carry out operations against our country, our people and our Europe. Only together can we counter this, and the best way to do this is to hit the core of this aggression hard and break all links between Russia and its accomplices,” said Zelensky.
The Ukrainian President called on Europe to increase its investments in Ukraine and joint arms production. The weapons would strengthen the European defense and security systems.
“No significant Russian weapon – missiles, drones, not even military vehicles – is manufactured today without components, equipment or materials from other countries,” said Zelensky. And this “unfortunately” includes those from Europe and NATO member states. Please make sure that your country and your companies do not help Russia or its friends in any way. This is really important. It’s just not China,” Zelensky said.
“Even Taiwan, and some of these parts come from European countries and the US. And every component or machine tool supplied to the Russian defense sector contributes to prolonging the war and crimes against peace,” he added.
China has been repeatedly accused by Western politicians of supplying Russia with dual-use components that circumvent sanctions and support Moscow in the production of military equipment for the invasion of Ukraine.
NATO has warned China about its role as an “enabler” in supporting Russia in the Ukraine war. Last month, Kiev accused Beijing of supplying Moscow with chemicals, gunpowder and components for 20 Russian military-industrial production facilities, reports RTSh.
China rejected the accusations and reiterated its claim that it has never supplied lethal weapons to any party to the conflict and strictly controls the export of dual-use goods./KosovaPress/
