“When (Milan) Radoičić was coming with armed men and blocking the whole street, not a single (policeman) came out, they were nowhere to be seen for ten days. Hello, people, what is this? What do they think? Where are our inspectors? They are harassing the children tonight,” protested a citizen over the conduct of the police who stopped a rally of students from Novi Pazar not far from Kosjerić.
The students who set off from Novi Pazar were stopped eight kilometers from Kosjerić. The rally paused in front of a police vehicle with flashing lights and two plainclothes police officers, after which two intervention unit vans also arrived. Citizens of Kosjerić soon appeared, and the police officers entered the vans after searching the vehicles.
A female citizen of Kosjerić emphasized that whatever the police attempted that evening, they did not succeed.
“These children have been expected in Kosjerić for days,” she said, adding that the police tried to tarnish that tonight, but they did not get away with it.
The students then continued on toward Kosjerić.
One of the students walking towards Novi Sad told N1 that what was happening was “a great shame.”
“We have been walking for days without police escort, and (they) stop us on a bend with plainclothes police officers, it’s a disgrace,” he said.
As a reminder, the citizens’ group “Clean People for a Clean Kosjerić” previously announced that on September 22, Milan Radoičić, the former vice-president of the Srpska lista, for whom Kosovo issued a warrant, appeared in Kosjerić.
“According to witnesses, Radoičić openly threatened citizens,” the statement said.
The statement added that Radoičić moved accompanied by security, as well as the mayor of the municipality of Kosjerić, Žarko Đokić.
“This delegation walked down the main street and visited several establishments. According to those present, harassment of citizens who had previously participated in protests against the government occurred in those establishments. Witnesses claim that members of the escort repeatedly directed insults and threats towards citizens,” stated the citizens’ group “Clean People for a Clean Kosjerić” at the time.
