Serbia’s president seeks a similar approach to Kosovo as Russia has to Ukraine. During his address on July 6, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić emphasized his intention to use the concept of demilitarization for Kosovo, in parallel with a similar approach that Russian President Vladimir Putin applied in Ukraine.
Speaking publicly about the situation in Kosovo, Vucic requested a meeting of the National Security Council to demand “the demilitarisation of all armed Albanian formations”.
“At this meeting, we will demand that the UN Security Council ask KFOR to act on resolution 1244 and to carry out the demilitarisation of all Albanian formations in accordance with the same resolution. I will personally attend the UN Security Council meeting.”
This statement by Vučić indicates a desire for an approach similar to that used by Putin in Ukraine, where Russia justified its demilitarisation measures on the grounds of protecting the russian population./The Geopost/
