Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić revealed a detail that once again underscores the strengthening of relations with China. He recalled a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his recent visit to Golubac.

According to Vučić, Xi told him in Moscow that he should not hesitate to ask for anything he wanted because “he would get it.”

“I was shocked. I said yes, I said yes, if a factory could do,” Vučić said, implying that bilateral relations had reached a special level of trust and strategic support.

Vučić mentioned Milan Stojadinović, who once politely declined an expensive car offer from Nazi minister Joachim von Ribbentrop.

“If it costs one mark, I’ll get two,” Stojadinovic said, according to Vucic, using this as a metaphor for how Serbia should take advantage of the opportunities offered.

Relations between Serbia and China have grown significantly over the past decade, particularly through Chinese strategic infrastructure investments and key industries in Serbia.

These developments come at a time when Serbia is aiming to maintain a balance between its ties to the West and close cooperation with the East, particularly China and Russia. /The Geopost/
