The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has justified Serbia’s aggression under the leadership of terrorist Milan Radoičić and his group last September in Banjska, Kosovo, where police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed and two others injured. Meanwhile, he also accused the internationals, especially the US, of arming Kosovo with “Javelin” anti-tank missiles. Speaking to the Serbian media, he threatened that “those who arm the Kosovo army will be held accountable”, writes The Geopost.
“With regard to Banjska, we have come to the conclusion that all those who arm the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and violate the UN Charter think they will never bear responsibility.” They are interested in how Serbia can be punished because some Serbs defended their homeland. Those who have violated the law will answer to the competent courts,” he said.
Vucic continued his attack on the “great powers” and defended China and Russia.
“For me, the court of my people is crucial, not the court of the great powers who would destroy our country because they don’t like our attitude towards Kosovo, because they don’t like our attitude towards Russia or China.” You like to follow Viola von Cramon, the worst haters of Serbia. Are there any of them who don’t insist that we recognize Kosovo? None. Is there anyone among them who doesn’t insist that we immediately impose sanctions on Russia? There are none. Is there anyone who hasn’t signed the worst for us after Banjska? They are always against Serbia and have always signed everything against us,” said Vučić, once again underlining Serbia’s anti-Western stance.
The US State Department has confirmed that it has approved Kosovo’s request to purchase Javelin weapons. According to a statement from the US Office of Security Cooperation, this involves around 246 anti-tank missiles of this type, which are manufactured by the USA. On January 11, the US government notified Congress of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program proposal for the sale of Javelin missiles and other related equipment to Kosovo. The sale of these weapons, according to DASH, “supports U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing Kosovo’s security and developing its NATO-interoperable defense capabilities without altering the essential military balance in the region or compromising U.S. defense readiness.”
Just as Vučić complains about the USA, Russia has also spoken out about the sale of these weapons to Kosovo. It was Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, and the spokesperson of this department, Maria Zakharova, who were the first to react by supporting Serbia and even criticizing the European Union. Lavrov said that Russia would always be on Serbia’s side.
