Ukraine strikes one of Russia's largest oil refineries

Ukraine has carried out an attack on the TANECO oil refinery in the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk, one of the most important facilities in the Russian energy industry.

According to reports, the target of the attack was one of the most modern and largest refineries in the country, which plays a key role in the processing and supply of petroleum products.

The TANECO refinery, located in the Russian republic of Tatarstan, has a processing capacity of more than 17 million tons of oil per year. It is considered a strategic asset for the Russian economy and is part of the energy infrastructure that supplies the domestic market and exports of petroleum products.

The attack comes at a time when Ukraine has intensified operations against energy and military facilities deep inside Russian territory.

Over the past few months, Ukrainian forces have used long-range drones to strike fuel depots, refineries, and other critical installations, with the aim of weakening Russia's logistical and economic capabilities.

Russian authorities have not yet released a full assessment of the damage caused to the TANECO complex. However, preliminary reports suggest that the attack has caused alarm in the region and prompted a response from air defense systems.

Analysts believe that hitting such a facility is of particular strategic importance, as large oil refineries are part of the chain that ensures the supply of fuel to the Russian economy and military sector. If significant damage is confirmed, the attack could temporarily affect the production and distribution capacity of petroleum products.

The war between Russia and Ukraine continues to spill over beyond the front lines, with both sides increasingly targeting each other's critical infrastructure in an attempt to increase economic and military pressure.
