Torres: The West has gone too far in appeasing Serbia
US Congressman Ritchie Torres said today that he is concerned that the West has gone too far in appeasing Serbia.
Torres said Kosovo deserves support in its fight with Serbia, adding that he is “concerned that the West has gone too far in appeasing Serbia”.
“Kosovo deserves recognition, it deserves support in the fight against Serbia, which is a proxy of Russia, and we must support Kosovo’s democracy. I am concerned that the West has gone too far in appeasing Serbia”, Torres told RTV21.
The US congressman added that Kosovo is an ally of the United States, while giving Serbia another epithet, “Russia’s extended arm”.
“We must accept that Kosovo is an ally of the US, while Serbia is Russia’s extended arm, and we must work hard to accept an independent Kosovo as a democracy,” he said.
For Torres, Kosovo is one of the most democratic countries in the world.
“I proudly serve as the Chairman of the Committee on Albanians in the US Congress, and I honour the role of Eliot Engel, the historic champion of the Albanian community in the US Congress. A few months ago, I was in Kosovo with Hari Bajraktari to deliver the message that the US stands unequivocally with the people of Kosovo. Kosovo is one of the strongest democracies in the world and I call on all countries in the world, all countries in NATO and all countries in the international community to recognise a democratic Kosovo,” Torres said.
