US Congressman Ritchie Torres has reminded Serbia that with the signing of the new Russian gas deal, it is once again showing the world that it is on Russia’s side, while the United States knows that Kosovo is its true friend.
“We remember that Serbia is a representative of Russia, while Kosovo is a constant friend of the United States. “We in the US must never forget who our true friends are,” he wrote in a Twitter post.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that he had agreed on a new three-year gas supply contract in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This has provoked reactions in Kosovo as well, saying that Serbia, by buying Russian gas, is financing Putin in his military aggression in Ukraine.
