For more than five years, the public has been left with no answer to the question of who killed Oliver Ivanovic. The investigation has been stalled and for five full years we do not know who ordered it, nor why one of the leading politicians in the north of Kosovo died. One thing is known after all these years, however, and that is who ordered the propaganda videos broadcast on TV Most and TV Pink a few months before Ivanović’s death. The brother of the murdered Ivanovic claims that it was the work of the Serbian List, while the owner of Pink said that he would have to check who paid for the video. He may have checked, but he did not share this knowledge with citizens of Serbia.
Just a few months before Oliver Ivanovic was murdered in 2018, first on TV Most and then on Pink, a paid propaganda video was broadcast describing Ivanovic as “a man who cries not for the murdered people, but for his car”. “.
The video was the culmination of a media lynching that had been prepared in advance of Ivanovic’s decision to run for mayor of North Mitrovica. The video, which many believe marked a “target on the head” of the SDP leader, according to the brother of the murdered Ivanovic, Miroslav, is the work of the Serbian List.
“I would like someone to come out publicly and announce who made this recording”, Miroslav Ivanovic said in “Utisak nedelje”, answering the question whether he knew who it was.
He added that he was clear that this could be dangerous and that it was drawing a target for Oliver.
“When you think about the authors of that video, it’s monstrous and it can at least be part of a campaign, it’s not about politics. We have condemned people for this kind of thing. The Serbian List is behind this. They have succeeded. I should not, I will not be so categorical, but I will tell you one detail, so please correct me if I am wrong,” said the brother of the murdered Ivanović.
He explained that “in the first days after this video appeared, in the right-hand corner, in white letters at a 45-degree angle, it said Srpska Lista”.
“It later disappeared on social media, for obvious reasons it disappeared,” he said.
The fact that Serbian list was behind this campaign is also confirmed by the TV Most footage, where the video was first published. The broadcast is labelled in the top left corner of the screen as a paid post and that Srpska Lista is behind it.
In addition to TV Most, the disputed spot was also broadcast by a national broadcaster, TV Pink. In a debate broadcast by RTV Vojvodina, in which Savo Manojlović, the director of the Start-change campaign, and the owner of Pink, Željko Mitrović, took part, Manojlović repeatedly asked who had paid for the video, but Mitrović did not give any concrete answers.
After reading quotes from the video, which was broadcast on Pink TV, Mitrović said that “he can look into who paid for the video”, adding that no one had asked him that question.
“Do you watch American campaigns, negative campaigns are not forbidden by law … I can look, nobody asked me that question … I will check,” the owner of Pink replied to a question about the video and who paid for it. .
Instead of answering the question of who paid for the spot on the television that he owns, Mitrović said that Ivanović was his friend and that this has nothing to do with the marketing of the blocks in which someone rents space.
To Manojlović’s remark that the video was not broadcast in the advertising slot, but in the news programme, Mitrović replied that they have an advertising block within the news programme.
“It was not labelled as a commercial,” Manojlović said. “Maybe it is a mistake if it was not stated”, Mitrović added.
Brnabić was angered by a question about a recording against Oliver Ivanović on Pink.
A few days after the debate on the video, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić responded to journalists’ questions by saying that she could not answer questions about who had paid for the video because she had not watched the programme.
“I’m sorry, I can’t comment on the show, I didn’t watch the show, I wouldn’t like to comment on the show, and as Prime Minister, I find it absolutely stupid that you asked me to comment on a debate show in which no one from the Serbian government even took part,” Brnabić said in June 2022.
Instead of answering, the Prime Minister used the opportunity to attack a section of the media.
“You cannot paraphrase me … You know, one of your two media outlets is not particularly credible for me, they are not objective and professional, I have to see with my own eyes, hear with my own ears and then answer. ,” said the Prime Minister.
