
Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Kazakhstan by the now resigned President Kassym-Yomart Tokayev, he sought the help of the leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The former president of Kazakhstan was assisted by Russia, which sent troops to Kazakhstan, led by Andrei Serdyukov, the commander of the Russian Air Force.
Photojournalist Pierre Crom, through a tweet on Twitter said that Serdyukov had led Russian forces during the war in Kosovo and during the tensions in Crimea, Ukraine.

So far it has been reported that 18 people have lost their lives and hundreds more were injured in violent protests in Kazakhstan.
These protests started on January 2 as a result of the increase in the price of liquefied gas and the socio-economic situation.
