Illegal Serbian cab drivers with Belgrade license plates operating in the four northern municipalities are observing the Kosovo Police at every action and static points where the police officers are. Kosovo police have confirmed that they are following these groups, while the chairman of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly says that these companies will soon be registered under Kosovo laws, as they are not registered.

But cab drivers with Belgrade license plates, who come from Serbia, also use them.

Some Serbian cab companies operating illegally in the north of the country are using these radio links and Viber groups to track every movement of Kosovo police operating in the four northern municipalities as well as at the Brnjak and Jarinje border points.

Tëvë1 exclusively learns that some of the drivers of these cabs are also people close to Milan Radoicic and inform Radoicic of any movement in this part of the Republic of Kosovo.

In addition, there are drivers of cab companies from Belgrade who have been convicted of criminal offenses by the judicial authorities of Kosovo.

The deputy director of Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, confirmed that these illegal activities are taking place, he says that they had a meeting with the municipality of North Mitrovica.

“We have several meetings with the municipality, with the municipality officials and with a group of cabs so that a solution can be found for them. First of all, they will be registered as businesses, then they will all have their own parking spaces.” These others will have to be defined over time. According to the chairman of the municipal assembly, Nexhat Ugljanin, around 70 illegal cabs with Serbian license plates are operating in the north of Mitrovica. According to him, a decision will be made within 15 days to register these cabs with RKS license plates.

“How other municipalities are doing, very soon it will be done in the northern municipalities as well, because the implementation will come after 15 days in the northern part where they are obliged immediately to start registering cars, they will not park where they want, but we have designated three places where they will have a place for parking… influential criminal groups are the work of the police, of course they will take concrete steps,” he says.
