The bomb threat, which security institutions have described as a hybrid attack originating from Serbia, according to the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, was made from a phone number registered in Serbia, specifically from the MTS telephone company, and its user has been identified as Lazar Živković, a Serbian citizen.
“The relevant security institutions have treated this hybrid attack against Kosovo institutions, which has been confirmed to have originated in Serbia, with high priority. The phone number from which the threat was made is registered in Serbia and belongs to the MTS telephone company. The user of the number was or is the Serbian citizen Lazar Živković,” Sveçla wrote.
Sveçla said in a Facebook post that Kosovo institutions are treating this case with high priority and that they will seek international support for the arrest and bringing to justice of the persons responsible for this threatening act.
“The attackers and threat-makers who take refuge in Serbia, despite the support of the Serbian state, will not be able to avoid responsibility,” he added.
After the alarm about an explosive device in the Kosovo Assembly building, there were numerous reactions.
The Kosovo Police announced that the threat was made through a phone call that came from a number of suspected Serbian origin.
“Investigations are continuing in full coordination with the competent prosecution, as well as with international security partners, in order to locate the source of the threat, identify the means and communication networks used,” the Police statement said.
“According to the statement, evacuation was requested because a person speaking in English said that a bomb had been placed in the building and that it would explode within 10 minutes,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the Assembly, Arben Loshi.
