The student protest in Belgrade ended after bottles and stones were thrown at protesters in front of the Serbian parliament from a camp for regime supporters.
A statement by the Students in Blockade said that their orderlies had taken off their yellow vests and were returning to their colleges. It added that they could no longer guarantee the safety of the people gathered for what was one of the biggest protest gatherings in Serbia in recent history.
The statement came after bottles and stones were thrown at the crowd from the fenced off area in front of the Serbian President building where regime supporters have been camping for days. Reports during the day said that men in hoodies and caps pulled over their eyes had been entering the fenced off area. The park in front of the presidency was also separated from the surrounding area by a number of tractors deployed to stop people from approaching the fence.
N1 reporters in front of parliament spoke to at least one person who witnessed the attack from the park.
