The American ambassador to NATO, Julienne Smith, warned that Russia is using classic methods to destabilize the situation in the Western Balkans.
She called the destabilization measures taken in the region “classic tactics” of official Moscow.
“This (destabilization) is the ultimate goal, and Russia uses a classic list of tools to achieve it.” One of its favorite tools is the use of disinformation, which it deploys throughout the region to divide societies from within, to divide Europe from within, and to divide the United States from our European allies and friends in the Western Balkans,” Ambassador Smith explained in a virtual press conference.
In her opinion, disinformation is a classic Kremlin game, while she also counted malicious cyberattacks among the Moscow regime’s methods.
Julienne Smith confirmed that the North Atlantic Alliance is doing exactly the opposite and is working to stabilize the region.
The American ambassador spoke to journalists on the eve of the NATO ministerial meeting. The diplomatic heads of the member states will meet on April 3 and 4 at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels.
The date of the meeting coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the world’s largest military organization. Sweden, the youngest member of the Alliance, will be attending this meeting as a full member for the first time./RTK/
