Fans of Belgrade’s ‘Partizan’ sports club, as well as representatives of Serbian patriotic-nationalist organizations, staged a protest in front of the Ukrainian embassy in Belgrade, protesting against the glorification of Nazism in this Eastern European country.
“Stop Nazism in Ukraine!”, “Kosovo is Serbia, Crimea is Russia!” cheered the attendees.
About 100 people took part in this unprecedented protest. It is Ukraine that is being subjected to constant threats of invasion by Russia, which was not enough with the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea in 2014, although the international community does not recognize Russia’s sovereignty in that part.
Protesters in Belgrade blocked the road near the embassy for several minutes, displaying a portrait of Marshal Fyodor Tolbukhin, who “liberated” Yugoslavia from the Nazis.
Reinforced police patrols were on duty outside the embassy. The protest passed without incident.
