Serbian Orthodox churches serve to keep the myth of “Mother Russia” alive among Kosovo Serbs.
This is also shown in a recent video shared by the Octopus Institute in which several children are seen singing for Russia and also calling for Serbia to invade Kosovo.
“This is how Russia is praised by Serbs in Orthodox churches in Kosovo! Among other things, this song also calls for the invasion of Kosovo!”.
The children sing in the presence of adults who are seen throwing money in front of the children for the nationalist song they taught them.
The song sings of Serbia, mother Russia and the return to Kosovo.
The event took place in the Draganac Monastery, north of Gjilan, where children sing songs glorifying Russia and calling for the occupation of Kosovo by Serbia. Moreover, in this object of worship, priests encourage children for these reasons even paying them.
Meanwhile, Arta Haxixhemajli, a researcher at OCTOPUS, told RTKlive that the institute has secured the video on closed social networks belonging to Serbian ultranationalists. According to her, the video was made in the last two to three days.
“The location of the video is in the Draganac Monastery between Gjilan and Kamenica. In the video, you can see the manipulation of children and the misinformation of the new generations, as well as the joint Serbian-Russian continuity for non-removal from Kosovo and the continuation of conflicts”, she declared.
Thus, according to her, they are sowing nationalism “and military training in new generations, starting with picture books with Serbian nationalism related to the Battle of Koshare and indoctrinating children with interethnic hatred”.
“We must recall that Russian groups carried out the same method with military exercises with children in Serbia after the invasion of Crimea in 2014 in Zlatibor (Serbia). The worst of all is the involvement of two segments that should stay away from conflicts: churches and children,” says Haxixehmajli’s reaction.
The Serbian Church has always been a supporter of Belgrade’s policies towards its neighbours. It has also nurtured the bond between the Serbian and Russian people.
The current rapprochement between the Serbian state leaders and the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as successive meetings, is aimed at completing the construction of the “all-Serbian shrine”, which was promised to KOS by Aleksandër Vučić.
