The Democratic Party (DS) has called on the relevant prosecutors to identify and prosecute those from the office of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic who “insulted, threatened and physically assaulted” police officers accompanying Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut in a video released yesterday, DS President Srdjan Milivojevic said yesterday.
The DS also called on Interior Minister Ivica Dacic and Police Director Dragan Vasiljevic “to protect their police officers from party thugs”.
“If they cannot or are not allowed to do so, they should resign immediately. We call on the competent authorities to urgently investigate all the circumstances of this incident, both what preceded it and what happened after it. How many such attacks have remained invisible simply because the cameras did not record them?” the opposition party asked in a statement.
Shortly before yesterday’s “National Assembly” in Nis, DS President Srdjan Milivojevic posted a video on social media purporting to show a confrontation on the highway to Nis between Prime Minister Macut’s entourage and a vehicle carrying members of President Vucic’s cabinet.
In the footage, two men can be seen getting out of their official cars while fighting and arguing over a traffic accident. So far, there is no official confirmation that these are people from the President’s and the Prime Minister’s entourages, and; there is a denial of the authenticity of the footage.
According to unconfirmed information, the video was recorded by Vucic’s media adviser Suzana Vasiljevic, whose voice is allegedly heard on the recording./N1/
