Serbia is awaiting the arrival of an important weapons system from the Russian Federation that is used for electronic jamming, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on Tuesday at the Topčider barracks, where he participated in the static display of weapons and military equipment of the Serbian Armed Forces.
This statement of his comes a day after the visit of the Russian Minister of Health to Serbia, in which case both countries expanded cooperation. As he said, funds have been provided for 701 weapon systems, while they have to find funds for 853 other systems from the local industry, reports The Geopost.
“We are speeding up weaponry, which is not easy financially, we are close to completion, we are finishing some other things, we are behind in wheeled vehicles compared to our neighbors, with tracked vehicles we have a big advantage, we are catching up. We are waiting for an important system from Russia that is used for electronic jamming. There are more new systems that people will be able to see in Nis during the holidays,” said Vucic.
By the end of the year, a large amount of suicide drones
Vucic emphasized that he believes that by the end of the year, the Armed Forces of Serbia will be able to purchase a large amount of kamikaze drones that will be produced in the country, and that this, he emphasized, will represent a big advantage for Serbia compared to its neighbors.
“I believe that in cooperation with numerous and intelligent local businessmen, by the end of the year we will be able to show a large number of suicide or kamikaze drones. Everything will be locally produced,” said Vucic.
The president added that the purchase of new weapons requires new soldiers and new training, and added that the Armed Forces of Serbia will now have new units that will operate drones as part of armored units. This is the most important meeting for us in the Armed Forces of Serbia, which we have once a year, where we deal with the situation and what needs to be done next year. At the same time, we must have better training, even though we have more soldiers”, said Vučić when asked by a journalist if more means are needed for the supply of weapons than the salary increase for the Serbian army.
