The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced that together with Russia they will organize the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from German occupation.
Vucic announced this on his website after a meeting with Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.
Vucic noted that he had had a “very good” meeting with the ambassador.
“We agreed to celebrate together the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the liberation of Belgrade,” the Serbian president said.
Vucic said that he had spoken with the Russian ambassador about Serbia’s key issues and thanked him for Russia’s support for Serbia at international level.
“We discussed issues of common interest, particularly in areas such as trade, culture and regional security. “I reiterated my gratitude to the Russian Federation for its diplomatic support to Serbia at the international level on issues of fundamental importance to our country,” he said.
Vucic indicated that he would continue to rely on Russia in foreign policy despite criticism from the West on this issue. Serbia refuses to impose sanctions against Russia due to these relations and despite being an official candidate for the European Union.
While Vučić will celebrate the liberation of Belgrade from German occupation with Russia, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was in Belgrade a few days ago to agree on the lithium deal, which Serbia saw as favorable to him.
Meanwhile, the difficult relations between Ukraine and Serbia are characterized by the fact that Belgrade is a traditional ally of Russia in the Balkans./TheGeopost/
