Mariupol, a city in eastern Ukraine, is a symbol of the siege, suffering and killing of civilians. Hundreds of Sarajevo citizens walked from the Eternal Flame monument to the monument of the children killed in Sarajevo with the inscription “Stop the massacre Mariupol” on the day of the victory over fascism. Once again, the BiH capital gave support to the people of Ukraine with a demand to end Russian aggression.
The rally, titled “Victims from Bosnia and Herzegovina for Victims in Ukraine”, was organized by the Mothers of the Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves Movement and the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide. “Stop child murder and war crimes in Ukraine” is the message of a rally in support of the Ukrainian people held in Sarajevo on May 9.
The protest march was symbolically held from 5 to 12 o’clock.
Citizens held placards with inscriptions that read, among other things, “You did not react in Bosnia, you should react in Ukraine.”
The meeting was also supported by the President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Sefik Dzaferovic, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Zeljko Komsic, and the President of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic.
So far, several rallies in support of Ukraine have been held in Sarajevo. On the other hand, in the largest city of BiH, a march of the “Immortal Regiment” was held, with banners “against Nazism in Ukraine and in the world” and “not to betray the side, freedom is in danger”, in which Serbian and Russian flags are connected.
The march is being held as part of the celebration of May 9th, Victory Day against Fascism, which is a holiday in Republika Srpska (RS), one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The march was led by Milorad Dodik, while Zeljka Cvijanovic, RS President and Russian Federation Ambassador to BiH Igor Kalabukhov, also took part in the march.
Representatives of the Night Wolves, a branch of the Russian motorcycle club led by Alexander Zaldostanov, who is known to be close to the Kremlin and Russian President Vladimir Putin, also attended an event commemorating the descendants of the war against fascism in the War of Independence in World War II.
A similar picture can be seen in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, where it was said that “Serbia and Russia have always been on the right side of history.”
At the top of the column was a large banner “Immortal Regiment Belgrade” and a cardboard figure of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as a large Latin letter “Z”.
The Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Aleksandar Bocan Kharchenko, also took part in the walk.
The “Immortal Regiment” march was first organized in Russia in 2007 and the descendants of anti-fascist fighters are marching in it, holding their photos. /The Geopost/
