The Serbian authorities are receiving threats from outside, writes Russia’s RIA Novosti, over “the detention of police officers of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo on its territory.
On 14 June, according to a Russian agency close to the Kremlin, “three policemen of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo” were arrested on the territory of central Serbia.
According to the text, the Serbian authorities reported that they were detained by members of the anti-terrorist unit (SAJ) of the Ministry of the Interior.
On Friday, a court in Kraljevo remanded them in custody for 30 days “on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons”.
“I can’t sleep at night, literally physically. I have not told anyone what threats were made against Serbia after the arrest of the three Kosovo police officers. I was told that the threats would come true on Friday, Saturday, Monday if they were not released. I have received them personally. I told them not to punish my country,” Vučić told reporters on Tuesday, according to Russian media reports.
“They are saying that we are not leting them free because they are beaten up, they are injured, they are all bruised. Half of the European media reported this. They are lying, nobody has even touched them. They drink coca-cola, they eat cakes, grapes, peaches, whatever they want. We can show you. But we are still villains and savages,” the Serbian President said, RIA Novosti reports.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, they remind, after Thursday’s UN Security Council meeting in Pristina, called on the international community to put pressure on Belgrade and called for the release of the police officers.
He accused Belgrade of “kidnapping” them and said that the NATO KFOR contingent had “remained silent”.
The authorities in Pristina on Wednesday evening banned the import of goods from central Serbia, the Russian news agency recalled. Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that Pristina “wants to leave Serbs without food and medicine in the north of Kosovo”.The Geopost/
